Warrior
Necro
Dervish/Sin
To recap so far in PVE that's
Necro 34
Ranger 30
Warrior 29
Elementalist 26
Mesmer 22
Monk 21
Ritualist 16
Assasin 15
Dervish 9
Paragon 8
That pretty much splits out into how long the games been around. Monk was less popular than I expected, ranger more so. I predict a year from now the bottom 4 won't be as well separated from the rest. Especially dervish, yay dervish. Admittedly I didn't get the dervish at all for a while then I suddenly started to love them.

My three favourites are:
1) Ranger - Can do one hell of a lot of damage with the right build. Also, the permanent ally (your pet) can be used as a good meat shield and to add a little bit extra damage. Also, you can solo UW easily with a trapping build, or as I've been told, a R/Me build is good for venturing into the UW.
2) Dervish - Mostly I like this one because it's interesting. It's a melee fighter that uses enchantments (or the loss of enchantments rather) to do extra damage. And the elite forms are cool. Unfortunately, I played my dervish too much and got sick of her.
3) Elementalist - Not really sure why, I just like them. My first char was an ele, but I got sick of him, and now he's only used as storage. However, Zhed is an ele, and need I say more? He's by far the best hero (along with Norgu. Also, this is in terms of their character, not their ability to kill things. Zhed seems to get himself killed more than he inflicts damage on others, but I still love him)
Now, my preferences are kind of limited, since I haven't played all that many of the classes. I've never played a Mesmer, but they would be high on my list, probably fourth or fifth along with the necromancer. Necro I have played, but I wasn't very good at it. Still a good profession though.
Really, the only classes I don't like are warriors, monks, assassins and paragons. The first two I don't like simply because they're too generic. Most people seem to play warriors and monks, and they don't really have imaginative skills like the other professions. It could also have something to do with the fact that I'm more of an intellectual in real life, so simply hitting things in games is kind of boring to me. And I hate having to be in charge of healing people, which is generally what teams demand of monks.
The assassin, however, has the potential to do huge amounts of damage, but I wasn't very good at it, but I still played the majority of Factions with one. By Unwaking waters, when I was on the kurzick side and no one was there for me to join when I was on, I was just so fed up with the class that I can't help but hate it.
And the paragon I just don't like. I don't know why, just as soon as I heard about that profession, I just thought "God, what a pretty boy. And bossy at that. And just look at him. He's such an arse." No offense to the people who like paragons, or did before the nerfs, but I never liked them.
However, I'm gonna completely contradict myself here and say that I actually use heroes that are of the professions I don't like. I'm usually taking Morgahn with me, because for some reason I like him. And Zenmai I will take when I go through Factions, because I feel the AI will probably do a better job than I did, and also I like to have a native profession to the continent I'm in if I'm foreign.
Basically, I choose professions from a role-playing view point, not from a strategic one. I like professions that use a bow or a scythe, which is why rangers and dervishes are high on my list. I choose heroes because of their character, not their ability to help me out in battle (although most of them can handle themselves around foes, which is an added bonus).

My favorite combinaton of skills is definately Necro skill and Mesmer Skills; nothing like making other players wet their pants and walk backwars. Mesmers would be on ther if they didn't look so terribly shakespearean.

NEMo (you gotta like that acronym)
-Necro (mostly because they are a powerhouse paragon killer which helps in Nightfall)
-Ele (because earth magic is pretty versatile, water is the best snare, and air is even better now that weakness does something to casters)
-Monk (because protection prayers is basically the best saver of HP ingame besides spirits which have a high cast and recharge)
